RITUALS AND PRACTICE
Jains follow a very specific set of guidelines. They follow the "Five Great Vows." These vows are non-violence (ahisma), truth (satya), non stealing (asteya), celibacy [(brahmachanga) this means no marriage], and non-possessiveness (aparigraha). When Jains worship, they usually worship in stone temples, or at home at wooden shrines that look like temples. Rituals may include chanting mantras, gazing at images of gods, or anointing like images. Monks must shave their heads, be homeless, and beg for food. Jains have many holidays that they celebrate. Most holidays celebrate a god's death. An example of a Jain dish is a gujarati Jain cuisine.
